
Community Based Rehabilitation
The Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program is an extended effort to reach children and youth in rural areas. Our team of rehabilitation professionals along with community workers make regular visits to Public Health Centres and Government Hospitals for newborn screening. We use an assessment process to identify children who have risks of disability and start them on a remedial action plan.
SPASTN CBR teams provide the initial impetus, therapies, special education, social interaction, inclusion and vocational training. The CBR operates out of Primary Health Centre/s, General Hospital and social service organizations. The parents and families are part of the Rehabilitation Centre and contribute their help and support whenever needed.
Our Thiruvallur CBR Program
We work from the Thiruvallur General Hospital and Primary Health Centre, the local Buddhist Monastery to provide early intervention care, special education, therapy, vocational training and inclusion of children with disabilities. CBR operates in 6 blocks of Thiruvallur District – Puzhal, Tiruvuallur, Padianallur, Redhills, Minjur, Perambakkam.
