Definition; More than one disability is known as multiple disabilities.


WHO ALL ARE CALLED MULTIPLE DISABILITY

  • Cerebral palsy + visually impaired
  • Cerebral palsy +mental retardation
  • Mental retardation + visually impaired
  • Visually impaired + hearing impaired
  • Cerebral palsy + mental retardation + visually impaired


AGE GROUP OF MDU

  • 0-5 Yrs   - MDU I
  • 5-8 Yrs - MDU II
  • 8-12 Yrs- MDU III


OBJECTIVES OF THE MULTIPLE DISABILITY UNIT

  • Early intervention training for children with multiple disability
  • To train the educators on functional vision assessment
  • To give a unique service in this region
  • To promote inclusive/integrated education for this target group
  • To create universal accessibility in the society for this target group

  • Collaborating with fraternity as –referring to hospitals for medical vision assessments/epileptic consultations/spectacles.
  • Training the staff on multiple disability.
  • Training the parents to prepare teaching learning materials for children with multiple disabilities
  • Conducting visual screening camps for parents & children with the help of eye hospitals.
  • Exploring the nature through sensory garden.
  • Training the children to participate in extracurricular activities.(i.e.,) sports / cultural programme
